Fighting
In the dojo (the hall used for training), you will learn how to fight. Kyokushinkai Karate offers three types of fighting and is one of the few Karate styles that practices full contact fighting.
Nihon Shobu Fighting
This is a non-contact form of fighting, where the fight is stopped every time a participant scores a point. Score 2 full points to win the fight.
Clicker Fighting
Exclusive to Kyokushinkai Karate, this style of fighting is very similar to Nihon Shobu, however the fight is non-stop for the full length of the match, unless a particularly significant technique is scored, in which case the match is interrupted and a full-point is awarded. The fight then continues.
Knockdown Fighting
Kyokushinkai is renowned Worldwide for it's full contact knockdown fighting. Full strength techniques are allowed to the legs, body and head. Knockdown represents a very hard form of fighting - both physically & mentally and it is the student's choice if they wish to partake in this type of training. Strikes are forbidden to the joints, groin and no punching direct to the face is allowed. Elbow & open hand techniques, as well as strikes to the back are also forbidden.
